To give rhyme to the bullets of wisdom in this edition, I found if I had read the appendix "Contempary" in the appendix section,first, I would have been miles ahead. Further, the claims that one can read, recommending this book as his number one work, fits his neologism "Tartuffism" worthy of Dionysian comedy status. Translated from handwritten notes with amendments and translations of illegible scribbles,thoughts are random over 10 years. The critiques of morality, philosophy, religion, etc. are the most coordinated text. Chances of a fast read=0.

But this has to be the best book I have ever read in my life. Even in his so-called Insanity he is profoundly Intelligent, Genius and Brilliant. If anyone needs to understand how life is to be lived do read this book.

An invaluable textbook

I am highly impressed from the hard work Keane and Eysenck have done, making the chaos of cognitive psychology clear once and for all. It's a huge area, and they've managed to organize it into chapters, sub-chapters and section. Each section is parted to "theory", "evidence" and "evaluation", so that there is no way you're going to miss what exactly you're reading about. They've managed to grasp, so I believe, all of the important topics of cognitive psychology, finely explaining the distinctions between the different methodologies used by researches in the field. There is a "further reading" list at the end of every chapter, which is very useful.
Highly recommended for undergraduates like myself and everyone interested in the area.

Alas, the book misses the cognitive research of emotions with the boring chapter 15, which simply doesn't get to the important point of that amazing topic. Additionally, the chapters about language didn't involve relevant studies from the area of generative linguistics, which lowered its effectiveness.

Too dry

Very complete but too dry! Excessive use of passive voice. A few clearer examples would make reading easier and more accessible. Some of the illustrations are just dumb, related to the context but make nothing to clarify it. One has a photograph of a magician distracting his public to do a trick. You can understand that from the text, no need for an illustration! Others are graphs that could use simpler, if longer, explanations. The book would be fatter, but more enjoyable.

At last a book that addresses seriously the problem with all those super specific diet instructions. “Eat 125grs of lean turkey followed by 25.6grams of avocado”. You can’t follow this type of diet if you are a busy professional and you spend most of the time outside home. You need to be flexible. This book will have you fix your needs in terms of calories, give you the most important info on how to set up a strategy and then leave you to be flexible. Deadly simple. Love the story but...

I read this when it was Conversations Between Us on soompi and absolutely loved it. When I found out it was going to be revamped and published I was very excited!! The newer version is definitely an upgrade and it was fun revisiting the moments between April and Black Coffee.

The only thing that I was disappointed in was that there are many grammatical errors in both First Impressions and in Last Conversations. I bought the kindle versions so I don't know if it's the same in the physical book. In some sentences words are either missing, misplaced, or misspelled. I also wish the text was left aligned instead of justified to make it easier to read. The justify alignment puts large spaces in between words if the sentence is short and I find it awkward. After noticing these things in First Impressions I had hoped that Last Conversations would have fewer to no errors. The finalized versions of these texts could have used a few more proof-reads.

I look forward to Solangel's future novels and hope that what I mentioned above is taken care of before publishing!
